Building Unshakable Self Confidence

Are you afraid of something? Fear is the number one thing that will stop you from ever even getting started.  Many of the Self Help Guru's say that self confidence is absolutely essential to achievement.  Why is that? Because confidence is needed in order to take action.  If there is no action, there is no success.  Confidence gives you the ability to move forward.

What causes a person to doubt themselves?  In your own life, can you answer that question?  Has there ever been a time that you lacked the confidence to do something?  I don't believe anyone can answer that positively.  We have all been afraid to ask for that much deserved raise, ask the girl of our dreams on a date, and anything and everything in between.  So what do we do to increase our confidence?

1)  Forgive yourself.  You must be willing to forgive yourself for the consequences of not taking action.  Learning from your mistakes not only keeps you humble, it also gives you confidence that you'll do things differently the next time.

2)  Remind yourself of past victories.  There have been times in our lives that we have done things exceptionally well.  We must remind ourselves of our greatness.  As we rethink and relive our past victories, we discover that there's no reason not to believe.  If you've had success in one thing, success is waiting for you in another.

3)  Do it afraid.  As I stated earlier, confidence is needed in order to take action.  If you temporarily lack the confidence to move forward, do it afraid.  Do not allow fear to rob you of what you greatly desire to do.  If there is anything you desire to do, start it now and have faith the confidence will show up later.

4) Get support.  Don't ever feel as if you have to do things alone.  Support and encouragement from others can make the difference you completing your objectives next month or five months from now.  Having mentors, friends or coworkers as your support team is setting yourself up to succeed.

4) Get accountability from others.  Accountability is different from support.  Support is needed because you may need encouragement doing what you've never done before.  Accountability is needed to make sure you are true to your word.  Lets say your goal is to close three sales by the end of the month.  Your accountability partner will be there at the end of the month waiting for your report.  The simple act of being accountable to someone will provide the confidence, and action needed to achieve success.
